You’ve got a great product or service and you’ve just set up your paypal account, but what next?
There are so many paths you could walk down next, and similarly so much information to confuse you on the way. So here’s our guide to E-Commerce: what you should do next to start selling online with paypal.
First things first, you’re going to need a website. Depending on your product or service, it doesn’t have to be a full blown e-commerce solution. At RX Host, we have two favourite methods of getting started quickly and easily.
1) Make a simple website with wordpress and add your paypal “buy now” buttons.
This is probably the most simplest route to take, and by far the quickest way to get started. If you haven’t already, you’ll need to grab some web hosting and a register a domain name. Even our budget hosting plan at £2.50 per month is suitable for starting out.
The domain name you choose will cost around £9.99 depending on the extension you choose. For example, .com domains are £9.99 per year whereas .co.uk domain names are £9.99 per two year period.
Once you’ve got your hosting, simply contact us and we can help you install wordpress, or provide instructions for you to do it yourself. After WordPress is set up you’ll be able to quickly and easily add and edit content on your website, including adding links to your paypal buy now buttons.
WordPress is also ready to grow with your business and provides a number of e-commerce plug ins that will help you list products and integrate with paypal more efficiently.
However, if you’re looking for something more fully featured and powerful, please read on.
2) Using Zen Cart, OS Commerce and Paypal, to create a professional e-commerce store.
If you’re going to be selling a lot of products online and want to generate detailed reports, provide user registration, discount coupon codes, and much much more, then this is definitely the way to go.
As with the wordpress solution, you’ll need to purchase some web hosting and a domain name (or you can also transfer your existing domain!). Any of our plans would be suitable and you can always upgrade as your online business grows.
Once you’ve ordered your hosting, it’s really easy to log in to your cPanel account and install either Zen Cart or OS Commerce. If you get stuck you can always contact us and we’ll help you get set up, at no extra cost!
